Our View
Those in the know would tell you that this area is the only
place to stay in New York these days. And the hotel to stay in is
the Gansevoort. It oozes 'grown-up' style with its slightly
masculine feel, minimalist decor and original NY artwork. With no
skyscrapers around it, it also feels surprisingly light.
Particularly memorable are the views and the sunsets over the
Hudson, especially from the unique rooftop pool. We loved the
innovative mind body spa too, the vibrant Japanese restaurant and
the ultra-cool bar; all ingredients that have made it a true
celebrity favourite.
Hotel Description
The Meatpacking District is home to the city's hippest
restaurants, bars and smart boutiques, such as Stella McCartney,
and at the corner of 9th Avenue and 13th Street is the Hotel
Gansevoort, one of New York's most striking hotels. Thirteen
storey's of glass and metal hide an interior which is modern and
masculine; think tweed, leather, slate and warm shades of taupe,
brown and cream with dramatic sheets f backlit translucent glass
taking the place of conventional doors. Its rooms and suites have
streams of ight flooding in from floor-to-ceiling windows while
wow-factor areas include a 45 ft-long rooftop wimming pool with
underwater music, bar and lounge offering 360-degree views, a spa
and Ono, the otel's Japanese restaurant (quiet at lunch, buzzing at
weekends). Its urban metropolis comes alive after sunset, so head
out with revellers and live it up New York style.
