Our View
This is one of the best uptown locations - overlooking Central
Park, with Fifth Avenue and Columbus Circle just a few steps
away... and all this, with a beautiful Art Deco style that's been
lovingly restored to have that Golden Era feel. For a taste of
'real New York', nip down 7th to the Carnegie Deli opposite the
concert hall - fantastic cheesecakes! We'd always opt for a Park
View room (the 19th floor upwards has the best outlook). But best
of all, while its standards are on a par with its competitors, we
think the value here is outstanding.
Hotel Description
After its multi-million dollar refurbishment programme, this
historic Manhattan landmark now pays suitable homage to its classic
Art Deco heritage. Contemporary colours and patterns work in
harmony with its 1930s history; rich coloured satin pillows adorn
the lobby's oversized cream leather sofas and rooms and suites
feature alligator-print leather accents, plush golden carpets and
high-tech appliances. The Lobby Lounge has sumptuous white leather
banquettes, tucked away in richly-appointed burgundy draped alcoves
with crystal beaded table lamps and is the perfect place for
afternoon tea. The South Gate restaurant is now a sleek and stylish
affair serving modern American cuisine, with an array of pampering
options available at the spa and health club.
