Our View
Hard to believe, but some feel The St. Regis is too opulent.
Regarded as 'New York's Best Hotel' (Forbes), we found its public
spaces very traditional (with Waterford chandeliers, Limoges china
etc.), while rooms are ornate yet hide the latest technology (TVs
rising from the foot of the bed, for example). The sheer comfort
and service levels are unbeatable, with each guest assigned their
own personal butler - it's just absolute quality, through and
through. Your morning tea is served in bone china with three
newspapers - and instead of sugar, it comes with a honey-flavoured
swizzle stick. Now that's what we call civilised!
Hotel Description
This legendary Beaux-Arts landmark in Manhattan's best address
is architecturally beautiful both inside and out. Dwarfed by modern
skyscrapers, you walk through the marble-floored lobby of this 1904
building and are transported to the Gilded Age where luxury was
standard and service impeccable. After its three-year renovation it
restored the Louis XV furniture to a lustrous state and concealed
new technology beneath original fixtures; high ceilings,
deeply-carved mouldings and silk wall-coverings all are
preserved.
Service is efficiently white-gloved and every guest is assigned
a personal butler, on call 24-hours to answer any reasonable
requests. The King Cole Bar and Lounge is home to Maxfield
Parrish's famed 1895 mural of Old King Cole; here in 1934 the
bartender mixed a Red Snapper, which later became the Bloody Mary.
And there's the Remède Spa, committed to creating an exceptional
experience for each guest. Perfection personified.
