Our View
Every Aman resort promises something
special. Here, they've converted an entire former village 20
minutes from eastern China's most attractive (and fashionable)
city, Hangzhou.
Rather than put their stamp on the old
buildings though, Aman have done a wonderful job in keeping things
natural; the landscaping is almost wild, the style minimal.
In fact, the real luxury here is the
perfect peace and stillness, surrounded by the ancient temples and
carved cliff-face Buddhas of an altogether different China.
Hotel Description
Tucked away in a hidden valley amidst
fields and bamboo groves, the resort has just 47 stone courtyard
dwellings, with no two the same.
The style is rural and restrained to
match the surroundings, with features such as air-con and
underfloor heating.
There's a choice of stylish eateries, a
library and an indulgent spa; but perhaps our favourite feature is
the Tea House, serving handmade sweet and savoury snacks with teas
from around the region including Longjing (Dragon Well), grown in
the surrounding fields.
