Our View
If ever there was a romantic image of a Raj palace, this must be
it. It's lavish, magnificent and manicured - and only 8 years old.
Maybe that's what makes it so perfect. From the elegant rooms to
the vast tiled pools, it's breathtaking. There's so much we love:
the lake view rooms that open on to a semi-private infinity pool
that stretches along the hotel like a moat; the lovely outdoor
dining courtyard; the gorgeous spa. If you're on a romantic trip,
we'd recommend a private dinner on the lake: you're literally on a
floating, candlelit pontoon. Bliss.
Hotel Description
Occupying 30 acres of former hunting grounds on Lake Pichola
facing Udaipur, you are greeted each day with views of the city's
17th Century royal palaces, Jag Mandir and Jag Niwas. Probably one
of Rajasthan's best examples of contemporary Indian architecture,
it has a magnificent profusion of turrets and cupolas,
hand-sculpted columns, graceful arches and a pale gold exterior set
around courtyards, surrounded by pools and fountains all
overlooking the lake. Traditional rooms are light and open with
dark wooden furniture and splashes of colour. The spicy, aromatic
and delicious Indian cuisine at the Chandni is amazing, the spa and
fitness suite state-of-the-art and the location just perfect for
exploring Udaipur.
