Our View
Space is a wonderful thing. And with a
sweeping driveway, low-slung, sprawling, red-roofed lobby, high
ceilings and tall windows, Amantaka has plenty of it.
The suites are vast, light and airy;
and with the simple, unfussy décor, it all feels such a marked
contrast to a town full of gilded temples and intricate carvings.
Aside from the Buddhist shrines, make sure you take the river
cruise to the Pak Ou Caves, where pilgrims have left thousands of
small Buddhas over hundreds of years.
Hotel Description
Originally a hospital, this French
Colonial-style haven is still a place of healing - a sumptuous
retreat from everyday life.
The 24 impressively large suites, 16 of
them with private pools, are simply furnished Southeast Asian style
with Western mod cons; the elegant restaurant, bar and terrace
areas are similarly spacious.
Both spa and service are up to the
usual phenomenal Aman standards, and as well as guided excursions,
the hotel has a number of local experts on hand for fascinating
insights.
