Our View
This may be picture-perfect paradise, but the resort is
surprisingly well served in terms of international flights, owing
to its proximity to Bali, with a choice of connecting flights
including private charter or a turboprop floatplane. The tents
really are pinch-yourself perfect, the Spa offers a choice of
outdoor or indoor treatments (try the hour-long massage followed by
clay scrub!), and this is one of the few places on earth where you
can see the famous Komodo dragons - an experience in itself. Oh,
and the single-room wooden sailing boat - with full staff! - is
romance incarnate.
Hotel Description
Nestled discreetly on the edge of Moyo Island, a protected
nature reserve just east of Bali, Amanwana is a resort that lives
and breathes its verdant tropical surroundings. Emerging from
rather than imposing itself upon its breathtaking surroundings,
Amanwana is a camp in name only - 20 tents with the majesty of
royal palaces in a setting even your wildest dreams would have
difficulty to conjure, each measuring 58 square meters and fringed
by a coral-stone deck, with facilities that will knock you off your
dreamy, king-size bed.
Winding sand paths lead you between the tents and to the beach -
and to the dining room and bar located in an open-air pavilion
facing the ocean, where a fusion of Asian and Western cuisine is
served, alongside al-fresco barbeques and dinners-by-campfire
during the dry season. A rustic air pervades Amanwana, yet one that
is swathed in elegance and with a faultless attention to detail.
And nature is key to your stay, with the resort providing an
exhilarating selection of experiences, whether it's diving in the
Indonesian archipelago, helicopter excursions taking in the
surrounding islands, or romantic cruises along the tepid waters,
rounded off with champagne and heartbreaking sunsets.
