Our View
Talk about a hidden gem! As you
approach from the sea, you'd hardly know the resort was there, it's
so well tucked into the lush wooded hillside. It's a theme that
repeats itself throughout the resort.
Take the spa: its gorgeous, thatched
teak pavilions melt into the jungle the same way stress melts away
at the hands of one of the Thai masseuses (one of the best massages
we've had).
And the hugely impressive infinity
pools - not one, but two - perfectly meet the fabulous ocean view
to feel like you're miles from anywhere. Quite literally, it's the
perfect hideaway.
Hotel Description
The original and still the best, this
was the first luxury resort on the unspoilt island of Koh Lanta,
occupying the perfect quiet corner with a vast stretch of pristine
white sand. 121 rooms, suites and villas are spread over 100 acres
of lush gardens; all are spacious, light and airy, (the style being
contemporary Thai) and the luxury understated.
We particularly love the award-winning
Pool Villas (the jewels in the crown) as well as the Beach Villas'
private gardens, infinity pools and extra space for the family
(kids of all ages are welcome).
The choice of dining is excellent, with
four restaurants and four bars (the Seven Seas fine-dining
restaurant has brilliant views!). Activities other than the spa
include non-motorised watersports, PADI dive centre (Thailand's
best dive sites are nearby) and indoor and outdoor fitness centre
including gym, tennis courts and croquet.
