Our View
This is everything we think a resort should be: completely
self-contained, with its own shopping village, golf course,
hospital and more (even workshops producing mahogany furniture!).
Yet in spite of its size, it still manages to be a luxuriously
private hideaway. There are many accommodation options, with the
original beach cottages a good choice. It's great for families,
with loads of activities from swimming with dolphins to riding,
plus a new Children's Village. But for couples, we'd recommend a
massage in an open cabana at the end of a 15ft pier, with just the
soothing waves lapping underneath. Heaven.
Hotel Description
This is a resort that has it all: a combination of traditional
elegance, luxury and service, established over more than fifty
years, and an astonishing variety of the latest facilities and
activities for all tastes and age groups.
At 400 acres, and centred around two miles of Montego Bay, Half
Moon Club has several swimming pools (one Olympic), an 18-hole, par
72 championship golf course with a David Leadbetter Golf Academy,
floodlit tennis courts, squash courts, an equestrian centre with
show jumping and dressage, a multitude of water sports, six
restaurants, a children's village, and the most popular activity
here - swimming with dolphins at Dolphin Lagoon.
The list really does go on, with the 68,000 square feet
indoor/outdoor spa just another highlight. Yet the boutique-hotel
feel of the venerable original building has been studiously
maintained in the fully staffed, low-rise, Georgian-style villas
set amongst the lush, landscaped tropical gardens, and in the level
of personal service provided throughout. The choice is yours:
tranquillity in wonderful comfort and luxury, or an abundance of
activity - or perhaps a bit of both.
