Our View
This is the most prestigious address in Jamaica, once welcoming
European aristocracy and still as stylish and relaxed as ever. It
mixes old school glamour with cutting edge design, and the décor is
just fabulous (by Ralph Lauren, who incidentally owns a villa
here). We reckon the best choice is a hillside villa, but even the
stylish Pineapple House rooms are white, light and airy with bamboo
four-posters. The gardens are lush and gorgeous too, but with some
rather steep inclines (of course there are the golf carts to take
you around). It all feels like an exclusive club, but with no
pretensions: there's even the excellent complimentary Pineapple
Kids' Club for younger guests, and with chef Martin Maginley
Jamaica's Chef of the Year for the 2nd year running you can expect
excellent cuisine!
Hotel Description
A sense of history and style pervades this resort like few
others, and maybe that's because it has been the haunt of the
(very) famous since the days of the 'jet set', having seen Cole
Porter singing in the bar, Rodgers and Hammerstein writing The
Sound of Music in one of its villas, or just providing
accommodation for JFK and Jackie. What these and today's guests
have in common, is a taste for luxury of the most understated and
tasteful kind.
This, 110 acre, legendary retreat, on the lush north west coast
- 25 minutes from beautiful Montego Bay, has 36 Oceanfront Rooms in
the Pineapple House and 27 Villas (23 with pools) which may be
rented complete or as one of 74 spacious suites with a shared pool.
Dining options range from BBQs on the beach to à la carte on the
terrace. The Pineapple House was renovated and designed by Ralph
Lauren with the theme of tropical beach living; it has its own
double infinity edge pool to complement the resort's five
all-weather tennis courts. Villas are decorated in the
plantation-style elegance befitting Round Hill's timeless glamour,
low-key luxury and all-important privacy.
