Our View
Sicily seems to have become something
of a hidden gem in recent years, although in the past it attracted
royalty, political leaders, Hollywood stars and many of Europe's
cultural elite, including Oscar Wilde, DH Lawrence and Guy de
Maupassant.
And all of them stayed at Grand Hotel
Timeo (hence its famous 'literary terrace'). We can see the
attraction.
Not only is the hotel the epitome of
timeless style and aristocratic elegance, the terrace has the most
fantastic view over the Greek amphitheatre, across the Bay of Naxos
to the majestic, smoking summit of Etna in the distance.
Fabulous!
Hotel Description
As the first hotel in Taormina, they
naturally picked the best location - in front of the historic
amphitheatre with sweeping views of the coast. But they didn't stop
there.
In typical Italian Baroque style, the
furnishings are rich and opulent; the lavish Presidential Suite
even has a huge terrace with a summerhouse.
In the midst of the beautiful gardens
is a heated pool (if you'd prefer the beach take the private
shuttle to sister hotel Villa Sant'Andrea), and the Wellness Centre
will relax, refresh and revitalise.
Most memorable of all though, is the
main restaurant, serving fabulous Sicilian and Mediterranean
cuisine on the famous terrace - against the most magical backdrop
you can imagine.
