This is one of those hotels that brings people back year after year…in fact, many guests have been coming for 20 years or more, and staying for 6 weeks at a time! But that's hardly surprising: it's an Alister's paradise, pretty as a picture and as exclusive as they come. What hits you most is the colour; from floral linens to the fresh flowers, it's everywhere. But what really takes your breath away is the setting, overlooking beautiful Portofino harbour; it sounds like a cliché, but we really thought we'd died and gone to heaven!

Hotel Description

Set on a hillside in four acres of romantic gardens, Hotel Splendido is a peaches-and-cream villa overlooking the charming little harbour of Portofino. Its glorious terrace has been graced by royalty and a bevy of stars from the stage and screen who have enjoyed its elegance, refinement and second-to-none hospitality and service. Some may find the many steps around the hotel challenging but the swimming pool (the only one in Portofino), pretty rooms with hand-painted trompe l'oeil's, wellness centre, sauna and tennis courts are extremely enticing. If you're looking for a unique experience, we recommend a private and romantic sunset cruise with Champagne or olive oil tasting classes on the terrace. Arguably one of the most glamorous places in the world.
