Our View
It's a much smaller and more intimate hotel than the Splendido,
but that's not to say it's quiet; you're right at the heart of
Portofino's colourful action here, and as people watching is one of
our favourite activities we loved it! Given the fact that you have
full access to all the Splendido's facilities too, we'd be hard
pressed to choose our favourite between the two - so perhaps the
only option is to try them both and decide for yourself!
Hotel Description
The Splendido Mare blends perfectly into the façade of Portofino
village and overlooks the famous Piazzetta and the waterfront.
Restaurants, boutiques and nightlife are within an 'olive's' throw
making it the perfect choice for those who like to be in the midst
of things. Having only 16 sunny, individually decorated rooms and
suites, most with balconies and breathtaking views of the harbour
and the Castle of San Giorgio, it enjoys a relaxed and informal
atmosphere. A short complimentary shuttle ride will take you to
sister property Hotel Splendido with its many facilities, including
heated swimming pool and wellness centre; with an 18-hole golf
course and horse-riding also nearby. This elegantly luxurious
Orient-Express property has impeccable service and superb cuisine
with an emphasis on fresh seafood, and is the ideal place for
taking it easy and spotting Portofino's glamorous people.
