Our View
It's the sense of history that really picks Regina Isabella out
from the pack; not only the ancient history of this beautiful
island, but the more recent history of some of its famous guests.
Old-school glamour and Mediterranean architecture and design mix
with the last word in modern amenities. The spa in particular is of
interest, using the unique faro mud and waters found in the thermal
hot springs across this volcanic island.
Hotel Description
With its immaculate 1950's architecture peppered with surprising
contemporary touches, its view out over the Gulf of Naples and its
service from a bygone age, it's no wonder L'Albergo della Regina
Isabella was a favourite with such legends as Elizabeth Taylor,
Maria Callas and Charlie Chaplin. Set on the island of Ischia,
surrounded by nearly 3,000 years of history, Regina Isabella is a
very stylish find, with rooms floored with Capodimonte ceramics,
lit through Murano glass and decorated with real flair.
The main outdoor pool looks out over the sea; and in the spa
there's also a purified seawater pool, another for hydrotherapy and
even a sensual revival pool incorporating music, colour and
aromatherapy. The fully-kitted out medical spa offers 50 treatments
and specialises in anti-ageing and body contouring treatments. The
main salons at Regina Isabella are grand and stately with exquisite
in-laid floors, while the restaurants and bars are everything you'd
expect from a hotel used to playing host to superstars. In short,
it's the height of glamour, whilst never stinting on those
up-to-the-minute technological essentials.
