Our View
There's a certain classic style to this
hotel - a sort of Riviera feel to it that reminds us of 'The
Talented Mr Ripley' or an Agatha Christie setting (so it's wholly
appropriate that it's owned by Orient Express!).
Originally a private residence it was
also a favourite holiday spot of Winston Churchill, and doubtless
many of the beautiful antiques and paintings were here when he used
to visit.
But what really knocked us out was the
setting: surrounded by beautiful grounds and private beach, the
view from the hotel's restaurant terrace is just gorgeous - as is
the seafood!
Hotel Description
This iconic seafront hotel, set in lush
gardens on the edge of the Bay of Mazzaro, dates from 1830 and
retains the feel of a private residence.
The setting is idyllic and the hotel
makes the most of it; most rooms have a balcony overlooking the
bay, while the Oliviero Restaurant (noted for fine Sicilian
seafood) occupies the vast seafront terrace.
To add to the restful ambience, the
Wellness Centre has a wide range of treatments based on orange
flowers, amber, sandalwood and jasmine, with an in-room service
available.
The hotel has a private shuttle to the
lively centre of pretty Taormina - around 200ft above the bay - or
it can be easily reached by the spectacular cable car.
