Our View
This is English with a capital 'E'.
Croquet on the lawn, Earl Grey in china, that sort of thing.
But although it still feels like a
country club, it's less stuffy than it once was, with a more
relaxed dress code and fresh contemporary touches.
Children are made to feel very welcome
too, and it attracts the smart crowd; you might well see Kenneth
Branagh in the restaurant, Cate Blanchett in the lobby or a Rolling
Stone in the spa.
Ah yes, the spa… that's as fabulous as
ever, with glorious treatments and the divine hydrotherapy
pools.
Indulgent with a capital 'I', in fact.
Hotel Description
Something of a multi-award winning
legend, Chewton Glen is the perfect English retreat: refined
elegance combined with a phenomenal spa and exceptional dining.
Its 58 rooms and suites are a model of
understated sumptuousness; some traditional, others contemporary,
all with opulent bathrooms made to spend serious time in.
The deservedlyfamous spa has Europe's
largest hydrotherapy centre, and the Marryat Restaurant is
much-lauded by Egon Ronay, the AA et al, with service throughout
the hotel absolutely spot-on.
There's a hefty list of activities
available too; although the walk through the 130 acres of grounds
to the sea is as pleasurable as anything.
