Or for something a little more supernatural, take the short tour of Lizzie Borden’s House – now a bed and breakfast and museum, named as one of the most haunted places in the United States and a mainstay of many a historical documentary and paranormal reality show, thanks to its notorious past.

The Hamptons is a haven for affluent New Yorkers who flock to the region's quaint villages and sparkling beaches every year to summer in style. It's also been a mecca to artists for years and you can visit the 1879 residence and studio of two of its most famous residents – Jackson Pollock and his wife Lee Krasner – at the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center (complete with paint splotches on the floor) in East Hampton's Springs area. If adventure is more your thing, then why not learn to surf or try the increasingly-popular pursuit of stand-up paddle boarding? As expected, The Hamptons also has all kinds of great dining options, so let our concierge give you tips on the best places to dine.

  • Days 13-14

    New York

Three nights in the city that never sleeps is by no means long enough to fit all of its magical sights and sounds, so for first timers we recommend visiting the Empire State Building, One World Trade Centre and 'Top of the Rock' for the best views of the city. Most will want to venture up 5th Avenue for shopping, and undoubtedly Central Park too, but we'd also advise taking the trip down Broadway to NoHo and SoHo for a more eclectic, yet just as rewarding shopping experience.

  • Day 15

    New York

Depart New York on your international flight back to London Heathrow.
