Our View
Kempinski say this is 'an affectionate tribute to the Hanging
Gardens of Babylon' - it certainly feels like a wonder of the
world! Vast, cool and elegant, the public spaces, like the grounds,
are opulent and exotic. On top of the heady, ozone-rich air, it all
feels very surreal. The complex has a main hotel, Ishtar Villas and
Spa Suites; we'd recommend Ishtar Villas, as you're much closer to
the Dead Sea. And you wouldn't believe how much fun caking yourself
in mud, letting it dry and then washing it off is - or how
refreshed you feel afterwards!
Hotel Description
Located on the largest stretch of private beach in Jordan, on
the edge of the renowned Dead Sea, the Kempinski Ishtar lies on the
lowest place on earth: an ear-popping 400 metres below sea level!
People love it for its clean air, mineral loaded seawater and the
haze which filters out the sun's harmful UVB rays. Built entirely
of local materials, it is lavishly set amidst glorious gardens
dotted with lagoons, waterfalls and private pools; on one side,
there are the large and stylishly modern sea facing rooms with
private patios and balconies, and on the other, sumptuous villas
with private terraces overlooking the sea.
The hotel has a range of restaurants from Thai to Italian, nine
outdoor freshwater swimming pools and the largest and swankiest spa
in the Middle East - Anantara Spa. Here, mineral-packed Dead Sea
water and mud provide ideal raw ingredients for spa treatments.
There's also a Kempinski Kids' Club which is entirely dedicated to
the younger guests.
